Dragon Tales - Chapter 5

       The crystal swords were about to end the two Celestial Dragons lives. Their death was imminent, but it seemed that the Ancestors were watching over them. That still was not the time for them to pass to the other world. They still had an important task to fulfill. Suddenly, Lance saw out of the corner of his eyes a reddish bright coming from the moon. It divided itself in two other unknown luminous brights.

       – Am I... dreaming...? Can it be... her? – thought Lance.

       Two of the reddish brights reached the Warriors just in time. Two more seconds and the dragons would have had their heads cut off their bodies. The creatures stepped back as their bodies got imprisioned in two huge dark reddish crystals. The third bright then came down. It assumed the shape of a red dragoness, which seemed to have the same stature of Lance and Drakian. She placed her pawns one at each crystal and muttered.

       – By crystal you found chaos in this world... by crystal you shall find peace in the next one.

       The crystals then emitted a strong white shine from inside. The mysterious dragoness leapt back and watched as the crystals began to float, still shining, then crashing. Only the remains of the red crystals could be seen. The fragments which composed the Warriors were gone. She watched as some sparkles began to ascend, fading away. She then lowered her head.

       – Your souls are free.

       Lance managed to open his eyes once more, but very little. He saw only the reddish silhouette of the dragoness.

       – Who... are you?

       – It's Ruby – Lance's eyes closed again. She continued hoping that he might still could listen her – You mustn't talk now child, you need all your energy to recover from these wounds.

       The dragoness then produced three reddish crystals and nailed two of them around the wounded dragons and one in front of her.

       – Red Crystal Restoration – Ruby muttered.

       The three crystal began to glow, just as Ruby's body. They began to shatter and became a red dust. It covered the dragon's bodies, still uncounscious, closing the wounds and stanching the bleeding. Lance was the first to wake up, 10 minutes later. His vision was still blurred but he recognized Drakian beside him.

       – Drakian. Drakian... wake up. We're saved – said Lance as he was slowly pushing and pulling Drakian. Their bodies still had little energy.

       – Huh... what happened? – inquired Drakian, as he was getting up, a bit dizzy. Neither of them realised that Ruby was fallen behind them.

       – I'm not sure... I think I saw Ruby trying to help us but I'm not certain if it really was her. Are you okay?

       – I'm fine. Just a bit dizzy. What about you?

       – I think my wing is still broken.

       – I can fix it when I got my energy back. Let's head to the hatchery where the others are for now.

       Lance nodded. They were about to move away when they heard Ruby moaning behind them. They turned swiftly towards the fallen red dragoness.

       – Ruby!!! – esclaimed Drakian.

       She was exhausted due the energy that was taken from her to successfully perform the Restoration Technique. Drakian rushed towards her, almost falling down. He then approached his face to hers.

       – Wake up – said Drakian, she moaned again. Drakian licked her cheek – Are you alright? – Lance approched them.

       She slowly opened the eye on the side where Drakian licked her.

       – Drakian... sweetie... I'm alright – she tried to get up but with no success – I'm just a bit tired. You know, the Restoration Technique requires a lot of its caster.

       – Oh Ruby – said Drakian as tears began to fall – Thank you so much for risking your live like this for me – he licked her cheek once more.

       – No need to thanks sweetie – replied Ruby with a smile on her face.

       – I hate to interrupt you two in such precious moment, but we still need to alert the other Celestials about Moldor – said Lance.

       – He's right. We gotta move – said Ruby.

       Drakian helped her lifting up her head and Lance helped her getting up on her limbs. They began to walk towards the hatchery.

       – Thank you for saving us both Ruby – thanked Lance.

       – You don't need to thank me Lance. You would have done the same for me – she said smiling, then with a sad expression – I am just sorry I couldn't fix your broken wing.

       – Don't worry sweetheart – said Drakian – I will fix it as soon as I have recovered my strenght.

       – You are always so eager to help your friends Drakian – said Ruby, licking his cheek – That's one of the reasons why I love you.

       Drakian was rubbing his head against Ruby's in return. They crossed the gates and entered the Temple.
