Dragon Tales - Chapter 1

       Drakian felt fear in his heart. A very strong fear he had not ever felt before. He ordered the messenger to get some other dragons and guard the eggs, then he quickly flew to the Great Chamber, which was located on the top of the Temple, to tell the other dragons the news. Although it was almost evening, the room was well illuminated but not mainly by the scarce sunlight, which could only be seen through two small openings on opposite sides of the round room and a bigger opening which could be used as an exit. The room was illuminated due the blue glow of some symbols that were spread across all the wall. Drakian entered in the room flying through the door on the opposite side of the bigger opening. He was breathing heavily from the effort of flying so fast.

       – Calm down Drakian, catch your breath – said Lance, another of the main members of the organization - Why are you in such hurry? Did something happen?

       – Yes... we've received word from the Guardians – the four other dragons who were there stated whispering – Their temple was attacked by the Dark Armies and they fear they may assault here as well – continued Drakian with a worried face. Then a big explosion  could be heard coming from the temple's gates.

       Lance and Drakian rushed to the big opening and saw some Dreadwings and Apes fightning the Dragon Sentinels, which were watching over the temple's entrance.

       – You four! – exclaimed Lance looking at the four dragons on the room – You need to tell the other dragons what's happening and go protect the villages and cities nearby. They surely are attacking them as well, but tell some of them to stay and defend the temple.

       – Yes, master Lance! – they said obediently and flew off the room through the opening to fulfill their tasks.

       – Drakian, come with me – both of them jumped from the room through the same opening used by the other dragons – We need to get rid of those monsters before they reach the hatchery.

       – Yes I know what you mean – replied Drakian and after a short pause – The prophecy.

       As they arrived at the gates, Lance dived into a Dreadwing which was biting the neck of one of Dragon Sentinels. The other Sentinels were trying to get his friend free, but the Dreadwing's Rider managed to repel their attacks. The strong impact made the Dreadwing release the dragon's neck and it stepped back into the group of enemies. Lance landed facing the group of enemies with an angry face and Drakian landed just by the wounded dragon, who fell to the ground due the deep cut of his neck and he writhed violently in pain. He  started breathing a mist which changed from purple to blue with little sparkles.

       – AAAAHHHH! It hurts! Stop it! – screamed the wounded dragon. Drakian stopped.

       – Calm down Nalus, this will help you. Trust me.

       Realizing he wouldn't survive without Drakian's healing power, Nalus calmed down and laid down his head to the ground.

       – Ok I trust you. Go on – that was when an Ape tried to attack they, but Lance could hit it with his tail, sending it flying away over the other enemies.

       – Quickly Drakian, I can't hold them off for much time alone.

       Drakian started breathing the healing mist on the wound but this time Nalus was groaning instead of screaming, holding the pain he was feeling.

       – There. You okay? – asked Drakian.

       – Yes, I feel much better now Drakian, thank you very much. I owe you my life.

       – Well I appreciate it but – Drakian turns toward the enemies – we don't have time for that right now. I need you and the other Sentinels to go take help the other dragons on the hatchery. Kill any of those evil creatures that entered the temple, you understood?

       – Got it. I won't let you down Drakian, specially after what you have done for me – Nalus looked at the other Sentinels which were hurt only a bit due the previous fight – Come on guys, we have a clutch to protect.

       All the Sentinels flew towards the hatchery, killing every invasor they found on the way. As they arrived at the hatchery, they saw some other dragons, which Lance ordered to guard the eggs, and joined them to defend the eggs.

       As they were doing that, Drakian and Lance were facing the group of enemies which seemed to be the main assault group. It was composed of two Dreadwings, three small warrior Apes, two medium warrior Apes and one mysterious hooded creature which looked like a wizard.

       – You are not passing through me – shouted Lance, launching a blue fireball at the enemies. They rushed into the two dragons. Both Lance and Drakian engaged the monsters in battle but the wizard didn't move at all. What is it planning?.
