Dragon Tales | Azure the Crystal Dragon - part 4

            The huge spikes scared all of us and everybody was afraid of why they appeared there. The ice looked normal at first sight, but we could feel that its constitution wasn't natural. Some males went in front to check if it was safe to pass through them. Everything was quiet. Too quiet. Only our breath and a soft breeze could be heard at that time. Then, some small cracks appeared on the spikes - Turn back - my father said - Why? What is it?- asked a dragoness, her tail around her hatchling. They slowly stept away from the spikes - Just turn back and run! - ordered father. As he said that, the other males with him and himself turned back and started running towards the group and away from the spikes. The group did so after some time. The cracks became deeper and deeper as we ran away, then, all of sudden, the sunny sky turned black as the night and violent blizzard started. As I looked back at the spikes, I saw it. A huge creature, like the one that almost killed me back home, but this time, it was ten times bigger and scarier. It was buried in the ice and waiting to trap us when we passed through it. It had enormous dark claws and fangs sharp like diamond. The yellow eyes called my attention as it was the only clear part of it body. All the rest was covered with some dark fluid substance, making it look like it didn't have any bones in its body. It saw us and started chasing us after a deafening scream it made. The fleeing dragon mothers tried to take flight with the hatchlings on their arms, but because of the heavy blizzard none of them could take flight at all.
            Dispair took control of the group. The creature moved too fast for us to get away by foot, so our only chance was to try to fight with it - Selena! Take the dragonesses and the hatchlings somewhere safe. Dragons, ATTACK! - my father said. I didn't mention my mother's name before because it's hard for me to say or write it without crying. Well, anyway, the story isn't over yet, so let's just keep going. By the way, my father was named Rowan, in case you are wondering.
            I could watch all the fight as we fled from there because we couldn't run very fast and it was almost impossible not to see the enourmous creature. First, they tried to halt its movement by creating a huge crystal wall around it. It had lots of different colors, as each of the Crystal Dragons produces crystals with different properties and colors. It seemed to work at first but the fist of the Monster shattered the crystal wall as if it was made of glass. Some of the dark substance started corroding the thick crystal wall and soon the Monster was out of it an it soon managed to grab one of the dragons and ate him. A scream could be heard as I saw one of the Crystal Dragons be thrown into the Monster's mouth. The dragons then realized they would have to engage a more offensive style of fight if they wanted to stand a chance against it.
            Each one of them prepared to launch its more powerful attack as the Monster missed a ground punch headed for my father. After some seconds, several beams of  energy could be seen heading towards the Monster's head and the deafining scream echoed in our heads but in a painful voice now. It fell into the snow and the  Crystal Dragons tried to imprison it again, thinking the Monster was defeated due the previous attack - Mother, look, they did it - I said to mother and everyone stopped and looked back. The dragons were exhausted due their lack of energy from not eating the previous hours. Only the creature's head could be seen. A flow of dark energy then emerged from its mouth. It started swirling around the dragons and the creature began to fade away. All of them started to scream as the dark energy began to reach their scales and they dissapeared, and so did the dark clouds and the blizzard. Mother began to walk away - Let's go. - she said as all headed back looking for some other shelter.
